I use Windows XP Service Pack 2 and IE7.
I am unable to download and install anything, on some items I am getting the
message:

'Windows Installer
Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation
before proceding with this install.'

But how can I find out which 'other installation is already in progress'?
Anyone know, please?

Regards

Alan

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290301

Because of the "Another installation is already in progress" error you
may not or probably will not be able to install the package.  If you
cannot install the utility use a utility like WinZip to unzip the
installer package and use MsiZap at the command prompt.

Use MsiZapU.exe (MsiZapA.exe is for W9x).

Windows installer clean-up utility is out-of-date,it hasnt been updated by
microsoft in about 4 years...You can download to desktop, does windows
update work...If no,or yes & a no,go to run,type:msiexec /unregister
After,return to run,type:msiexec /regserver  After,return to
run,type:services.msc
In msc,scroll to installer,double click,set to auto,start service,close out
msc

I tried the first two intructions and both came up with an error message
saying windows couldn't find the files.  The third direction (services), I
was able to get into, but when I changed the windows installer to auto from
manual, it would not allow me to click the start button.  Please help.
