Nowhere. The taskbar is part of Explorer ("Explorer" is the name of the Windows shell, so everything you see, including the
taskbar, is part of it.) Whenever you press F3 while any part of Explorer is active, Windows will initiate a file search.
What happens if you run another program like Notepad or Calculator, then press F3? Does Locate32 still do it's thing or do you have
to activate it's window first?

The other program (Notepad) gets the F3.
Please note that I sometimes change some of th following three
settings and this maybe a factor.

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) i.e. data entry
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)
(Also can use "Folder Options" -> “Launch Folder Windows in a
Separate Process”)

(2) Launch Windows Desktop in a Separate Process

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) i.e. data entry?
Value Data: (1 = Separate Process, 0 = Default, disabled)

(3) Launch Browser Windows (IE?) in a Separate Process

Value Name: BrowseNewProcess
Data Type: REG_SZ (STRING Value) i.e. new key value entry
Value Data: Yes or No
