Is there a way to turn the display of Windows XP to black & white (or shades
of gray) or sepia shades? The only three options available are the Default
(blue), Olive, and Silver. I'm not looking to change my monitor settings to
monochromatic, just the color/shades of the taskbar, borders, menus, etc.

The software that installed with your video card may offer this option.

There is the Zune theme. Horrible orange start button and the common tasks
area does not change but the rest is in shades of black. NOTE : This is a
direct link to the download. Use Google and search for "zune theme xp" and
you should get a couple of hits of sites that have screenshots up.

Thanks, Mike. Didn't realize that. I've been using a transparent theme
from Stardock for years (Stealth OS) on XP so am out of touch with the
MS offerings. Appreciate that you took the time to let me know this.
