I have a two partitions called "C" and "D" on a160 GB drive. The C drive has WinXP home sp2 installed and it is giving problems. ( Microsoft help has been unable to help me solve the problem. ) Can I install the same Winxp on D and try if that works OK? If it does then I will just format "C" and reinstall other prgms on it. Thanks Yes i'm almost certain you can install on the D drive, but, what about anything already on the drive. You will have to back it up somewhere?. Can you boot onto the C drive, if so, back everything on it to the D drive and then you can format the C drive and reinstall that way. Some programs will only want to install on the C drive. Have you tried repairing the windows installation on the C drive. What about system restore? Have you checked to make sure the drive is'nt failing?
