Without my having changed the settings I am seeing large bold text in the
message boxes of 3rd party progs, e.g. my wireless card, Quicken, Net Objects
Fusion 9.

It's not just an aesthetic nuisance, since in one case the listed properties
cannot all be seen and so cannot be selected.

I have tried intervening in Display Properties / Appearance / Active Window
/ Message Box / Message Text and choosing Arial 8 or 10. It has no effect on
these 3rd party applics. How do I get things back to normal?

You mean you wouldn't like to be able to read your monitor from the next
room?

Okay, seriously...sounds like you might have accidentally invoked one of
the accessibility features. Try this: Control Panel > Display > Themes
tab > choose the Windows XP theme.

Thanks. I have tried that, but the problem remains.
