Details vs List view- how to change default?

Can I change the default way XP displays files and folder from the "List
view" to the "Details view" format?

And can I also change the View | Arrange Icons default from "name" to
"type"?

Set the folder view the way you want, then go to Tools => Folder
Options => View and click on 'Apply to all folders'.
