Does anyone know of a website that offers the Vista "Mountains"
wallpaper photo at a higher resolution than 1600x1200?  That is the only
resolution I can find it on the web.  My monitor uses 1680x1050, and the
photo quality is reduced when it's stretched like that.

if you try to display an image of any pixel size with an aspect
ratio different then your Windows display, you either must show
black bars on the left-right or top-bottom depending on its size OR
be willing to accept distortion. now, a 3rd way is to resample your
image up high enough so that it can be cropped to the aspect ratio
of your display and decide for yourself if the quality has degraded
too much for your preferences. that's the only 3 ways I can think
of to resolve your "dilemma".

I used IrfanView to reduce the image to 1680x1050 pixels, and it looks
fine.  I even used the 'Sharpen' option to improve the picture still more.
