hello,

i often have trouble with applications "taking over" file associations,
example RealPlayer and Quicktime.  I wanted to leave these as with WMP, but
now all go to RealPlayer and I can't seem to revert.

I find the dialogue box that explorrer offers under file types is very
confusing and hard to manage.

Is there a utility, pref free or share that can be recommended for managing
file asssociations, esp audio and media?

thanks!

Each utility wether it be WMP,RealPlayer or QuickTime has a page where you
can chose which files to play or not to play with each player.
Under WMP you right click an empty spot next to "now plying" and chose
Tools...Options...File types...check what you wish WMP to play.Do the same
for RealPlayer and Quicktime making sure that you dont pick 2 players to
play the same file type because the last picked will over ride the earlier
pick.
good luck
