I just got a new laptop (Dell Latitude, d630) with a wide screen.  It is very
nice but boy do things look small for my old eyes.  The icons, the tool bars,
the boxes, office etc.  Are there ways of customizing all of this stuff?

Open the Help and Support Center. In the left column under "Pick a help
topic" click on Accessibility.

Right-click the Desktop
Select Properties
Under the Appearance tab
   are all the settings you want (Advanced button)

Tip:
Before you make changes - save your current setup:
Under the Themes tab
   click the Save As... button
