Hi,

I have a strange problem. When I change the Recycle Bin icon it reverts
back to the default icon after a restart. This occurs even if I select one
from the shell32.dll file. I would like to be directed to the area in the
registry that controls the default icon for the Recycle Bin where I may
indicate the one I wish.

this one is tricky...but makes sense.
===============================
in display properties window
setup your recycle bin
then goto theme tab
if theme box has (modified) pick 'save as' button
save theme to anyname.theme file....save this file....
if you make changes to display items check theme tab
and save as each time.

I tried your method and it still reverts back to the default icon. I hope
someone knows where to edit the registry to correct this.
