Problems with desktop items

Hi, I have a weird issue with my desktop icons. My Desktop icons (My Computer, Internet Explorer, My Documents) dissapeared. So I went to Display Properties / Customize Desktop and selected them (the were already selected) again, but they still don't come up. I have this computer on my bussines (an internet cafe) so I did not know how this happened, and I need to get thos icons back. I fact none of the icons is there not even the recycle bin icon. I have nothing there, just the wallpaper. How can I fix this. Please help I'm really lost whit this.

Right click the Desktop, select Arrange Icons by and ensure that Show Desktop Icons is checked.

Make sure you did not accidently uncheck 'Show Desktop Icons'

Right click on your desktop
Hover over 'Arrange Icons By' and navigate down the submenu and verify that
'Show Desktop Icons' is not unchecked.
