I have a programe that randomly picks a screensaver.

I have downloaded the screensavers I would like to deploy.

I do not want to see screensavers such as 'Stars', but
when I delete the .scr file from windows32 folder it
automaticaly re-installs itself.

How can I remove the .scr file permanently?

All help gratefully received.

Hi,

First delete the corresponding file from /system32/dllcache folder and then
delete it from system32. This should prevent WFP from replacing the file.

Thank you Anando

I have seen this fix on the internet, but I do not appear
to have a folder /system32/dllcache.

On a search for this folder, I get a find in
c:windows\lastgood.tmp\system32 but this folder does not
contain any relevent files.

Still struggling.

if there is a solution, could anyone please post oit.

Hi Peter,

This is a hidden folder, so please turn on the view to show hidden folders.
This can be done by click on tools >> folder options and select  "show
hidden files and folders".

Hidden folders are turned on.

Search includes hidden folders.

I still do not appear to have dllcache folder.

Still stuck and praying. (Only option left?)

Hi Peter,

Just type at Start >> Run C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache and press enter. This
should take you to the dllcache folder. The dllcache folder is not visible
since it is marked 'system'. If you also turn the view to show system files
through folder options, then only dllcache folder will be visible.

That option wasn't mentioned and should have been.  That's all.  :o)
