directx registry error

I am using Directx 9.0c.  I was having problems starting Jardinains so
I ran dxdiag and found I had registry errors.  Everything else seems
fine.

Poll w/ Interrupt: No
Registry: Errors found
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E1-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}\InprocServer32'
is missing.
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E1-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}\InProcServer32'
is missing.
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E1-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}' is missing.
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E0-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}\InprocServer32'

Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E0-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}\InProcServer32'
is missing.
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{25E609E0-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}' is missing.

How exactly would I put them back in the registry?  I tried
reinstalling Directx but it doesn't change anything.  It seems to know
it is already installed and doesn't install again.

I looked at the registry and can see where perhaps it goes but would
like confirmation and explicit instructions.   Thanks!!!

You might be able to fix the errors with "Registry First Aid" from
www.rosecitysoftware.com . As a trial installation it fixes only 12
entries at a time, but it certainly looks if the path of a registry
entry can be modified (pointed) to the right file. No idea how it might
work in this case. I am not a big expert, but do these entries point to
a server installation? If so you might be able to re-install them.

Hi Jimmy, the two keys you mentioned do not exist in my registry.
There are two almost similar ones however:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{25E609E4-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000} and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{25E609E5-B259-11CF-BFC7-444553540000}.
Any suggestions on what I should do now?  Help!!  Thank you everyone.

Hi Alix,

Personally, I would set a restore point,
Create the Registry Key that's missing
Create the Sub Key (InProcServer32)
Reboot, and run DX Diagnostics.   :-)

Hi Jimmy,

I did that (it took a few tries to find out what the values were) and
now there are no problems found when I run dxdiag.  My game still opens
and closes without starting but now I now it isn't DirectX!!.  Thank
you for all your help.

Hi Alix,

Glad the DirectX problem got fixed.  Has Jardinains
released a patch or update you might install with the
hopes that it might correct that startup issue?

Hi Jimmy,

No patch for Jardinains.  It used to work, so I must have changed
something when I reformatted a while ago.   I have the latest video
card driver.  Perhaps I should be using the older one.  Oh well.  I
will keep trying.  Once something doesn't work I become obsessed until
it is fixed. (Even if it isn't important).   I usually play Jardinains
near Xmas as the gnomes look like little Santas to me....

Thanks again,

I don't have a solution for you, but was reading through the game FAQ
(http://www.jardinains.com/faq.html) where the program author states to send
him an email if you have problems.  You might try that.  He may have a
solution for you.  Looks like a fun game.

Great link!  Thanks for helping out Chris.  :-)

Looks like they have an upgrade patch:
http://www.jardinains.com/files/jardinains_1_2_upgrade.exe
Also, try setting compatibility mode to use 640x480 resolution

Hi, thank you for all your help.  I got the patch for Jardinains and
set the compatibility mode to 640x480 but no luck.  I can see the
resolution changing and the screen goes black, but then everything goes
slowly back to normal - no game.  I just checked in my display
properties and my flat panel can't even be changed to that resolution.
Viewsonic vp201s.  The default is 1600x1200.  In display properties the
smallest showing is 800x600.  Is that the problem do you think?   If so
I will have to wait and hope that he updates the game.

Hi alix.cat@gmail.com,

Here's a couple of suggestions:

1. Try launching the game normally (without using the Compatibility shortcut).
2. Try changing your desktop to 800x600 and then launching the game normally.

I hope that helps!

Hi Jimmy,  I tried your two suggestions but no luck.  I just looked on
the Jardinains page again and found this:
Problems running the game:
Your display can't handle 640x480. This is a rare case, since virtually
all computer displays can run at 640x480, but there are a few LCD
screens out there that don't handle this resolution. Try setting your
display to 640x480 using the "Display" control panel; if you can't set
your screen to that resolution manually, then Jardinains! won't be able
to do it, either. Contact your computer maker's tech support line to
get help resolving this issue.
I guess I should be emailing Viewsonic?

Thanks again,

Alix

Hi alix.cat@gmail.com,

Yes.  It would certainly be helpful to have their input on this.
