I am trying to run Halo 1.0 on an Acer Veriton 7200D with a SIS 300/305 video
card... Don't ask... it will not run...
The error I get is....
"A problem occured initializing Direct 3D. Hardware acceleration may be
disabled, please run DXDIAG"
I run the DXDIAG and everything looks good... I have run the latest Halo
update 1.07 I think it is... I have installed the latest SIS driver from Acer
dated 10/2002...
Still no go... same error.... Bummer.... Any one make Omaga Drivers for
this card? any other ideas?...

Hi Lou M,
You really should upgrade to a recent model video card with
at least a little "oomph" if you want to play games like Halo. :-)
I'm not extravagant. My really inexpensive nVidia Ti4100 64MB
card runs the game with a fairly decent FPS at 800 x 600 res.
Your card isn't supported for Halo according to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/829478#EWADAAA
Others have tried to get your card to work with Halo and failed:

Do yourself a favor and pump-up your puter some! :-)

My machine is way different then yours...
So I dunno if this will help or not but I had the same error when I
installed Halo last night and it turned out that my graphics card
acceleration was not set all the way up.
Right click
Desktop->Properties->Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot->Hardware
Acceleration
Set it all the way up.
Also I had to install the latest Direct X drivers 9.0c from Microsoft.
Hope this helps,
Chris
