I've gotta a problem with my CD/DVD rewriter.  For some
reason it's given up the ghost and stopped working.  I
can't burn music, photo's or movies.  I get a message
sometimes saying there is no disc in the E drive, also
that the E/O device drivers are not accessible.  Today I
got up before 1pm (on a Sunday!) and did a complete
system restore and the bloody thing still doesn't work!
Any ideas?  I'm using windows XP family addition.

Charlie

P.S.  Since doing the restore I'm getting random messages
from a message centre that I've never had before.  I've
supposedly blocked pop-ups but the little turds are still
getting through goddammit!

I have similar problem in that I can't write to blank cd's anymore. I still hope to solve problem and will look to see if you get any good response

I've also had similar problem with pop ups, and found out that if you do a restore it will undo the thing you did to stop them . So you will need to do that again.

This can be done by disabling  the "Messenger Service", Try doing the following
click Start, then Run, enter "services.msc"and click OK. Scroll down to "Messenger", select it
right-click and then choose Properties.  Under startup type, choose 'Disabled' and the
choose the 'Stop' button. After the service is stopped, click OK.
