I have a Philips CDR4816 drive which is apparently compatible with XP (according to the box). Trouble is it's really flaky - sometimes I can read CD Roms, sometimes not. For Audio CD's I can get them to play back but there is a very noticable juddering to the sound. Writing to CDR's does not appear to be working. I have flashed the drive with the latest Rom update from Philips but this has not solve the problem. Anyone else suffering from this - have an idea?

What software are you using to burn your Cd's ??
I would say change to a different app. I use Nero 5.5.10
and am VERY happy with it.
