You have to wait longer than 4 minutes to get a reply, Dolores. I'm
replying to your first post, seen below. You need to find out if the
printer is supported in XP. Call HP support again and don't hang up the
phone until they get your printer working, if it is supported in XP. If
not, too bad.

I have been succesfully using a HP Photosmart P1100 printer with XP ever
since XP was released and it works perfectly. The key is to completely
remove any software/drivers for the printer prior to installing the most
current drivers and then if using USB cable to NOT connect the printer until
the driver install software says to do so. Alternatively, using a Parallel
cable should avoid any of the problems that occur with the sometimes tricky
HP USB driver install.
