For the first time since i got my machine two years ago, my cd Drive won't
read blank cd's.  I have in the past recorded all kinds of stuff on cd's with
the same drive. It recognizes that a Cd-R is in, but won't give me any
options and says "D:\ is not accessible, Incorrect function" when i double
click the icon. It reads all other types of discs just fine.  It's like it
doesn't know what to do with a blank anymore. What should I do?  Is it
something i can fix at home?  Are my settings just off little?

In Windows Explorer, right-click the drive letter and click
PROPERTIES|RECORD tab, and verify that recording is enabled.  If it is
not, check the box.

I can't find that tab. For some reason it says that my drive type is "CD
Drive" and not CD-RW (thats what it is). Is that part of the problem?

Sounds plausible to me...

I have a similar problem. Whenever I put in any kind of burned or burnable CD
I get an error saying: D:\ (OR E:) is not accessible. Incorrect function.
I’ve looked over the website/forums and have tried everything that seemed
like it might help. And I’ve had no luck what so ever. Will you help me fix
this problem? Otherwise I’m going to have to do a clean XP Pro install with
no backups. Thank you

First, are you sure that  the problem is with Xp and not the CD-RW drive?
How old is the drive?  You may want to replace the CD-RW drive, since they
are most affordable now and it is a lot faster to replace the drive than it
is to reinstall XP.

Yes, I'm positive that the problem is XP, I only started having this problem
after I upgraded to SP2. And both of my drives are only like a half of a
year old. So I see no reason to buy new ones. Any other sugestions?
