I have a LITE-ON DVD drive attached to my computer which has worked for
several months now but recently it has stopped recognizing any discs other
than DVD discs.
It will not recognize blank or written cd's although it will recognize
written or blank DVD'S

Lite-on  Lite off.  Try it in another computer. I hate liteon.

DVD and CD use separate lasers to read the discs, the cd one appears to
have expired.
