Windows wont see DVD-RW disks ...

Ive got 2 systems at home one is a AMD3200+ with 392 ram on a ASRock760gx
Mother board and a sahara dual dvd rw drive Running win xp home sp2 with all
the latest updates from microsoft the other has a 3400+ cpu same board 512ram
andits running xp media centre also with all the updates installed
But both systems windows doesnt want to recognise my blank disks dvd+r(rw
)or -r I can Write to them using nero but when I try to access The disks my
computer becomes cancerously slow Is there a way to fix this my one machine
has linux instaled & it has no problemReading or writing any of these disks
Plaese help...

Has Nero Express and InCd been updated lately?
