Hi people, I am having a serious problem with my PC.. viruses are ever
so often attacking my computer but that is not even the problem. Usually I
would be able to recover my computer using the F10 key during start up but my
computer has failed me miserably and I can't even recover it manually
anymore... If any one has access to a Windows XP Home edition recovery cd,
perhaps you can send me a copy for I am unable to even create my own and my
computer wasn't sent with one.. Please some one HELP!! I'm tired of taking my
computer to the Chinese new and used electronics store for a monthly
recovery. It costs me $50 each time I take it over there and they have
deleted so many of my files... All I need is a copy of the WINDOWS XP
recovery disk... I can take it from there...

Instead of spending $50 ***each*** time to get your PC
fixed, spend $50.000 ***once a year*** on a good virus
scanner and firewall. You will suffer no more infections. In
the meantime you will probably have to format your hard
disk and reload WinXP from scratch.

So you bought a PC without a recovery CD?  And now you regret that foolish
decision?  At least, learn from your mistake.

FYI, the recovery CDs that come with some PCs are crippled so that they
are only useful on that type of PC; they are not guaranteed to be
hardware-independent.  Full retail XP CDs and OEM XP CDs are fully
hardware-independent; OEM CDs are intended to be sold *with* hardware
and cost less that full retail CDs.  If you purchase a XP CD then you
won't need to take your PC back to the store to restore it.

Either way, you need a package of anti-malware apps -- and you need to
regularly update and run them.

Recovery CD are "custom" to each model of PC that is sold.

You have not being protecting your system.  You need to get:

Anti Virus
Firewall
Anti Spyware

software.  These three should help to protect your PC from "most" of the
Internet problems.   You should not need to run the Recovery too often!
