I have about a half-dozen USB external enclosures, acquired over the
past year or so. These enclosures have no useful documentation. Is
there any way to determine the maximum hard drive capacity an enclosure
supports? Some utility that can read it's firmware, perhaps?
And if I CAN determine capacity, is there any way to update the
firmware to support larger drives?

Do it the "brute force" way: Temporarily connect a new 200+ GB HD in the case
and see how much of it is visible. If only 137 GB, you have your answer...
