Having tried to fax a contact, I had much trouble trying to fax him.
Eventually and after much frustration, the fax did eventually transmit
(send.)

In case this issue remains intermittant or ongoing, I would like furnished,
the various solutions I could try to get the fax software to work at all
times without any further issues arising.  The more feedback that I receive,
the better and, might save having to pay my computer vendor to put things
right.

It is not a problem at his end.  If it was, then I would get a message
telling me that the fax has failed to send.

The purpose, as you can see below, is asking for the options available if
this issue remains intermittant.  Please, unless you know of any
alternatives, then I am asking you nicely not to make negative opinions.
At the end of the day, it's not helping anyone.

Then you might help yourself by including the error messages.

There were no error messages appearing.  Not even a dial tone.

If you know about the fax software that comes with XP Windows, then maybe
you could pinpoint why this problem could be intermittent.

Since there are no error messages and no dial tone, it's pretty hard to
guess what you have going on. Is the phone line shared with a network
connection? Is the modem on?

Hello there

Phone line isn't shared.  Modem is on right now.

Since it is intermittent, ant there are no errors and nothing else to be
using it. It is likely a cable problem or the modem is not responding
properly, also called a "hung modem". Only power cycling the modem
causes it to reset and work properly when we experience that.

Bob

That's a very good point and will be contacting my vendor once he is free to
see what he can do to rectify the issue.   So thanks for that.

In addition to the above.  Is it possible to recount why I cannot get my
Windows components to install?  Despite following the correct procedures, I
cannot get features such as Paint, Calculator, Character Map etc to show
under assessories.

Thanks

Michael

Are you running some "privacy" software or anti hijack software, or the
AOL security stuff. any of that kind of software will interfere.
