changing the mouse to a wireless one

I want to change the mouse of my computer and it says in the instructions to
go to the control panel to the add/remove program and identify the mouse
software.
been there can't find it, what do I do now??????????

You might not have any mouse software installed.  You may be using the
"default" mouse driver that is in XP already.  Just install the new
mouse "software" that you have and connect the new mouse.
