That sounds like a hardware issue with the drive itself, consider
replacing it. As to the Internet Explorer issue, I don't use version 7,
but if you were using that "web interface" access to the group, it could
have been the "server" end as well. I only use a newsreader.

What is the name of the newsgroup in the reader? I use Agent for email and
newsgroups but can't locate this group in it even after refreshing the list.
On the drive issue it reads every time I try to boot from it from the BIOS
also I have a Memorex DVD drive that has the same problems so I question the
hardware issue. One thing that occurs to me is that I've installed the ATI
multi-media stuff that came with my video card and it has some CD apps as
part of it, I wonder if they could be interfearing? I installed it from the
CD drive by the way.
