Windows Forum / Windows XP / Hardware / May 2008Webcam stalls XP boot up
I Have a Biostar K8M800 MB with an AMD Athlon processor that I just built. XP boots up perfectly and runs just fine, however, if I have my Microsoft Webcam plugged into my USB port when I boot up the computer, The boot up sequence gets as far as showing the Windows start up screen and never gets any farther than that. If I unplug the webcam and reboot, everything is fine. I can plug the webcam into the USB port once windows is running and I don't have any problems. It's only at startup. It could be that your BIOS (Biostar MB) might be confused with the Webcam since it might have a setting for "USB legacy" support. This is usually required for USB keybaord / mouse access to thew BIOS screens but I have noticed that sometimes the BIOS can not understand any other device correctly. |
