Hi folks,
I just reinstalled a system XP.
My "NEC DVD RW ND-4571A" shows up as DVD/CD Rom drive type instead o
DVD/CD Ram. I can't burn DVD/CD.
I tried to reinstal the hardware but nothing changed.

Check the properties of the drive and ensure the cd burning is enabled.
What software are you using to create/read DVD's?

I checked it before from:
Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Maneger / ViewDeviceByType:
and I find out:
DVD/CD-ROM drives/_NEC DVD_RW ND-4571A

1. properties of DVD/CD-ROM drives: DVD/CD-ROM drives
2. properties of _NEC DVD_RW ND-4571A:
On Properties I found only two sections "CD Player Volume" and "Digita
CD Playback"

It seams the system coud't detect the right type of the drive witch ca
only read and play. But I em sure I have the RW device. I wored befor
and it is working corect on the Linux (Fedora 8) now.

I use Nero express with simptom:
Surce drive: only : E:_NEC DVD_RW ND-4571A
Destination drive: only : Image recorder (CD-R/RW)
no other chois

I alowed to everybody to burn with Control Panel / NeroBurnRights

any other idea?
thanks
Ala

For starters a drive that supports DVD-RAM should be reported in My Computer
as a DVD-RAM drive.  Having said that many windows installations often
report drives as something they are not without problems.  Try deleting the
DVD drive in drive manager and allowing XP to redetect it when it reboots.

Locate, download and run Nero InfoTool.  This should read the drive's
internal firmware and list out what media compatibility it supports.

1. I deleted the DVD drive but after rebooting the XP redetected the
DVD/CD ROM.
2. From Nero InfoTool: all Supported Read and Write Features are ON
(except "Mount Rainier").
