Hello...

I was trying to Remote Assistance with a family member...we both have
the latest Windows Live Messenger...one of us accepts the invite and
and starts to connect and then says:

Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the
remote host name could not be resolved. Please try again.

How can we fix this?

Thanks,
Brian

Hello,

I suspect your family member is using a router which is not forwarding your
request to their computer.

Your family member needs to configure their router to forward port 3389 to
their machine.

How to Port Forward - http://www.portforward.com

You may also need to use the "Save as File" method and edit the IP address
in the file to point to their real Internet address, as it would be pointing
to a LAN IP.

If you are behind a router, enable UPnP...No need to forward port 3389 when
UPnP is enabled.
