Windows Media Center

When I open Windows Media Center I get a message "Messenger Failure" media
center cannot find windows messenger.  It is installed, version 8 and does
work from the desktop. Also in messenger when i get an invitation to see
someones videocam i get a picture but garbled sound only

Greetings,

Media Center can use Windows Messenger for its instant messaging feature only.  What you have
installed is Windows -Live- Messenger, which is a totally different product.

If you really wish to use the Messenger feature in Media Center, you'll need to install
Windows Messenger:
