Hi,

I cannot sign in to Messenger all of a sudden.  I can use the ID to log in
to any other login-required site but not Messenger.  It hangs and  hangs and
evenually comes back with the connectivity error message (forget the number
but that is clearly not the issue.... I am connected to the internet at the
time).  I tried upgrading 8.5 - makes no difference.  It's not the actual
Messenger install because another login Id will work fine.  It's something
connected to a particular ID and login.  I also tried the online version of
Messenger but it is still trying to log in as I am typing.

I am using Windows XP Pro and Windows Live Messenger 8.5.

Any suggestions?

JanyDoe,
I have the exact same problem and it just started tody as well. I have spent
the past 8 hours trying to fix the problem and I have no idea where to turn
from here. If you fix the problem.,PLEASE let me know and I will do the
same!!!!!!!!!  I have unstalled and reinstalled and didn't fix the problem. I
have never had a problem in the past.
Thanks,
ljwteach

I have tried the remedies that I could find - including Jonathan Kay's
registry reset and changing my password now.  No difference.   I thought it
might be something in the registry on a particular computer but it's the same
issue no matter what computer I try to log in on.  It is something between
MSN and my ID.  I see other people complaining of hacking.  However I don't
think I would have been able to successfully change my password (and it does
work on any other login like hotmail or MSN account settings).

Perhaps Jonathan Kay has some other suggestions for us.

Regards

So I'm curious... Did your sign in correct itself?

Mine is fixed.  I have no idea if it's timing or the fact that I deleted my
identity under Local Settings and Contacts on both my computers.

For whatever reason - it works.

I'll be intersted to hear if yours does too.

So what are we? The Three Muskateers?  Curly, Larry and Moe?

Must be a Microsoft burp.  Perhaps they'll figure it out (but then again....).
