Hello everybody,

I only use Windows Messenger occasionally. Today it seems I cannot sign in /
connect anymore.

Before Messenger used to connect automatically when I launched it from IE.

Now I simply get the window where I have the choice of signing in (or
signing in with a different account).

When I try to sign in, it seems to try to connect (there is a small
animation) but nothing happens and I am back to the same window.

I do not get any error message. Status reads that all systems stable and
running.

I cannot relate this phenomenon to anything I could have done.

I just don't know whether the problem is on my side.

What should I do and check ?

Thanks in advance for your kind help,

Best regards,

Daniel
PS
I don't have MSN Messenger installed

Hi,

I found a workaround to my problem, although I dont't have the actual
explanation.

This is what I've done :

I opened Messenger and clicked on Tools / Options

In the account tab, I checked .NET Passport and, below, the Communications
services accounts box (sorry I have a french version of Windows, and I don't
know what it translates in English), but I didn't enter any User name.

Having done that, I found that it cured my problem. The only thing is now,
when I sign in, I get a dialog box asking me to enter a user name. I just
close that box and off it goes, I am connected.

May be you could try that and let me know whether it solved your issue.
Brgds
Daniel
