Greetings Wilma,

This is related to the SIP server support in Messenger (not the .NET Messenger service
itself).  I assume you're not using that (you're not if you don't know what it is) and you
can turn it off.

If you're using Windows Messenger 4.x, open the main Messenger window, click the Tools menu
in Messenger, then select Options.  Click the Accounts tab and then click the option button
'.NET Passport' under 'Sign in with this account first:'. Then, uncheck the box 'My contacts
include users of a communications service', click OK and then try and sign on again

If you're using Windows Messenger 5.x, open the main Messenger window, click the Tools menu
in Messenger, then select Options.  Click the Accounts tab and then make sure that only the
'.NET Passport Account' is checked (the other options should not be checked), click OK and
then try and sign on again.
