I have windows XP, and on the welcome screen I keep
getting the message under my name that I have new e-mail
in my hotmail account. Now when I check my e-mail,
there's nothing there! And because I had to sign into my
sister's passport for a minute, it's displaying her e-
mail count too! How can I get rid of this?

Thanks,
Katie

Greetings Katie,

To disable this feature all together (no registry changes required), download the TweakUI
powertoy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (see on the right).

After you have TweakUI installed, click Start, All Programs, Powertoys for Windows XP, and
choose TweakUI for Windows XP.  In the TweakUI window, on the left, click the '+' next to
Logon, and choose Unread Mail.  Uncheck 'Show unread mail on Welcome screen' and click OK.
