transitions error

I'm new to the movie maker program, i just upgraded to movie maker 2.0. When
I try to open the transition selections I get error message "encountered a
problem & shuts down"

i've tried everything on papajohns... no luck yet! Is there anything i can do
to get rid of it? because none of my other programs work either. Even Win DVD
Creator has started closing on me. In both programs I insert a transition and
the program just closes without warning.
