Help please. Suddenly all my collections have disappeared and my wmm2 is
unable to create any other collection.  I can still open all the mswmm files
i've previously created but if i try to drag a pics or a videoclip in a new
project i always get a message of 'unknow error' and the program crash.
Filters and transition works fine but i cannot add nothing. I've tried to
open the file mediatab.dat but then wmm says is not a valid file.
thanks in advance

Have you just done something to your computer?
Added a programme?
Deleted one?
Run a spyware type app?
Done any other type of cleaning?
Suffered power failure?
Have you tried using system restore back to when it did work?

I did not add or delete anything, no power failure i did nothing unusual and
yes i've tried  using the system restore but the problem is still here.  It
only seems a problem of  recognizing the MEDIATAB.DAT file.  I was wondering
if i can dowloading it somewhere and try to replace it.

the Mediatab.dat file contains the info about your collections... with links
to but without copies of the files themselves. There are a number of things
that could lead to it being corrupt, and once corrupt it's not a fixiable
file.

you don't need to download a new one. delete it and Movie Maker will create
a new one with no clips or collection folders in it. See my website's Manage
Your Files > Collections page for info about where it is.
