In Vista Pro, movie maker won't play an mpg shot with a Sony DCR-SR42. I
import the mpg, right click and play, the status bar moves as if the movie is
playing, but the screen remains black. Why does the movie not play?
Thanks,
Kerry

================================
Movie Maker has issues with MPEG files.
The following articles mention Movie Maker
2.1 but are also relevant with Movie Maker 6.

the Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Vista are the only ones that
include Microsoft's MPEG2 codec....

Why can't we simply download the 'Microsoft's MPEG2 codec' and instal
it.
This is very frustrating for me.. I have many Movie Maker 6 Project
that I have completed on my Dell 1720 Laptop running Vista Ultimate.
need to sell this laptop now so have transfered all my Movie Make
project files across to my desktop PC running the same Vista Ultimate.
But when I try to play my projects on the desktop I get the previe
pane display problem.
If it is Vista Ulitmate that includes the Microsoft MPEG2 codec wh
does it work on my laptop but not on my desktop?
Converting my original mpg files to avi is not an option. I must ge
Movie Maker to run my edited projects.
I have searched for the Microsoft Mpeg2 codec but having troubl
finging it..... Why can't we simply go to microsoft.com an
download the codec and install it? Why is everything so difficult al
the time?
Many thanks
