I'm making a movie out of pictures.  How do I make it so that the picture
stays for longer than 10 seconds before going on to the next picture?

Change the Duration.

You can do this before dragging the picture
to the timeline...go to...Tools / Options / Advanced
and adjust the duration to suit...

Also...after the picture is on the timeline....
place your pointer on the edge of the picture
until you see the double red arrow...now left
click/drag the arrow to adjust the duration...
you'll see a tooltip that displays the change.

FWIW...for still shots...PhotoStory is a better app...
