this, of course, causes a problem with audio-video synchrony even if there is
very little that is edited
also, how do i know which version of movie maker i have
i looked in 'properties' which only said movie maker
if it is movie maker I, can i download II for free
what is the link
finally, i do not have 'snapshot' as a choice on movie maker which is why i
suspect it is not the latest version

On the "Import File" screen in Movie Maker...
uncheck..."Create clips for video files".

Open Movie Maker and go to...Help / About...
to see your version.

2.1.4026.0  is the latest version for WinXP.

2.1.4026.0 is installed with Windows XP SP2.

There is no option called "Snapshot"...
however you can do a screen shot by clicking
the "Take Picture" button at the bottom of the
viewing screen.

What make and model cam do you have?
How is you cam connected?
If it's digital and by firewire and you capture as dv.avi
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/HowToCaptureDV-AVI.htm
Then you should have no out of sync problems however many clips you have.

Can't remember but snapshot may have been in movie maker v1
