I know that my camera can be hooked up to the IEEE 1934 cable, but my computer does not have the port for the other end of the cable. Does anyone know if I can get and extension cord or some type of cord to be able and still attach it?

The other end of the cable has to go into a firewire card on the
computer.... most computers don't come with such a card and it needs to be
purchased and installed.

Do you already have a cord? At the camera end, it's usually a 4-pin
connector, and at the computer end... usually 4-pins on a laptop but 6-pins
on a desktop.... anyway, it's either 4 or 6 pins so the card has to match
the cable.
