Excuse the interruption, but for people that don't know me, I'm a developer
lead over here in the Windows Movie Maker group at Microsoft and I thought
I'd mention that I've just started a blog.

I thought it might be an another interesting way to communicate with all you
good folks out here so we'll see how it goes. Of course I can't talk about
unreleased stuff, but if there are any specific topics that you'd like me to
talk about please feel free to send me an email directly (just remove the
"online." from my email address on this post) and I'll see what I can do.

and now back to your scheduled programming...

That's great!

I am pleased that somebody from the Movie maker team is accessible to us. I
am an independent developer for custom effects and transitions and am hungry
for a lot of info...

What sort of information can you share with the public? Can you tell us what
is the status of different bugs or what new features roughly are under
development? may be that lies in the "unreleased" arena...?

But at least you should be able to tell us the "secrets" related to MM :)
such as:

* the meaning of several control variables in the filter class
(NDFXArtEffects) e.g. Control1Value, Control2Value, ... ,

* is there a way to pass values to the custom effects plug-ins
dynamically/runtime rather than through the static xml interface?

* Why doesnt the Contrast and Gamma work in any of the effects classes i.e.
Standard and Brightness effect.

* can we extend the AutoMovie somehow ? For example, I want an AutoMovie
mode to make a slideshow with selected transition/effect applied to all
clips randomly.

* is there a way (DShow plugin?) to get hold of entire clip rather than one
frame at a time and do something with it for example reverse the clip

* Why does it fall over due to unrelated DLLs/codecs so easily. If a codec
is not used in the movie being edited one would expect it to be taken
account of at all.

Excellent! I'm viewing the blog at the moment. Are there any
changes/improvements  in  Movie Maker  version 2.1  that is included with XP
Service Pack 2, compared to  the standalone Movie Maker 2.0  download?
