I'm playing mp3 files from my PC, the output is plugged into a stereo
receiver. The problem is, when ever a web site has sound on it it too
gets amplified though the same system. I have the windows sounds turned
off, but web sites are different. I'm wondering if there is any way I
can get winamp/mp3 files to play though the stereo but no other sounds.
Is this possible?

If you're using IE, then you could try disabling Internet Options >
Advanced > Multimedia: Play sounds in web pages (ditto Videos)

However I don't XP is really set up to do this easily. The good news is
that, from what I've seen, Vista does allow this.
