I'm trying to record some tapes to my hard drive.  I can
use 2 programs:  Nero and Audio edit; but neither will
work.

The microphone in and line out of the sound card do
work.  Is there some diagnostics to test my sound
card's "line in"?  Or any other ways to record these
tapes to my hard drive?

Thanks

Nero 6 has a media centre added to all the bells and whistles it now has.
Nero 5.5 will simply burn your CD's. Invest in Goldwave (
http://www.goldwave.com ). You can use to record and then edit the wave
files (get rid of tape hiss, rumble etc. and also normalise the sound once
recorded.

Then use Nero to burn the wave files.

Cheers,
Jerry
