Today is the first day of the
rest of your life.
I have similar problem - I read the microsoft link but even more of a calamity.
I used CCleaner and removed the uninstall folders from the windows directory
and I had a trojan virus that was in the system restore so I switched it off
rebooted and deleted the system restore files as well.
Now looks like I cannot rid myself of WMP11 all I want is to install WMP10
any ideas please ?

Turn off system restore, re-boot then run your anti-virus. When the Trojan
is cleaned, turn on system restore and re-boot.
Re download WMP11, re-install it so all the files/registry entries are as
they should be.
Then remove it via the control panel > Add/remove programmes.
Good luck ....... !
Cheers,
Jerry
