Hi-

As of last night, I have lost sound on my PC.  I have two powered speakers
attached to the P.C.  I am running Windows XP Professional SP 2.  The
computer is less than 1 year old.  Please note that even when I disconnet the
speakers, no system sounds are played through the P.C. (start up, shut down,
etc.)  The sound driver is Sigma Tel Audio.

Below is what I have done to try to correct this problem:

1.  The speakers are connected and plugged in.  I made no change to the
speakers before it stopped working.
2.  I have gone to "Sound, Speech and Audio Devices" and all settings appear
fine.
3.  I have gone to the "Device Manager" and there are no conflicts or
disabled devices.
4.  Anywhere applicable, the system tells me that the device is in
installed, enabled and working.
5.  I have gone into the BIOS and confirmed that "Integrated Audio" is "ON".
6.  I have now both restarted the computer and shut down and turned on the
computer several times.

The only thing different that happened yestereday was I used Pinnacle Studio
10 and connected my Sony MiniDV video camera to capture video footage from a
recent vacation.  However, the audio worked fine during the review and
capture.  However, after capturing and doing some editing the sound stopped
working.
