I've got a problem with my MSI MS-8348 CD RW. I've got a problem with my MSI
MS-8348 CD RW.
It copies fine and plays back ok until it gets to towards the last couple of
tracks on the CDR and then the audio disappears into static.

I've tried CD-Rs from different manufacturers but I am still getting loud
crackling and static on several songs on these CDs after they are burned.

I have the latest versions of Windows Media player.

Think my drive is equivalent to CR48-A as CR48-A2 must have come out after I
purchased the computer in 2002 ...

Try a lower recording speed, like 16X or 24X
My Computer>rightclick CD drive>Properties>Recording tab (bottom of window)
Apply>OK out

Thanks for your response Byte... unfortunately, I had already tried lowering
the recording speed in the way you describe (I think to 8X)  and it hadnt
worked... I've google around the web but though i've seen others with the
same problem no one has posted a difinitive answer as to how to solve it... i
am assuming there is an answer, of course ...

One more aspect to check out.  Uninstall it and let WindowsXP reinstall
it automatically on the next reboot.  If it asks for drivers, they should be
on your PC's accompanying utility disk.  You can uninstall your CD-Rom
in Device Manager.  Troubleshoot before trying anything drastic.
Good luck...........:~)
