Does anyone have a good up-to-date article comparing the quality of various
MP3 encoders included with various audio-applications (either for ripping
CDs to MP3 or for WAV to MP3 conversion) ?
I have done some rudimentary testing (using RMAA) comparing "quality" of an
audio test WAV file converted to MP3 with different encoders (Creative's,
Nero's etc..) and the LAME encoder definitely shows the best results,
particularly in the IMD (intermodulation distortion) results.

Looks like you've already done your homework.
LAME is considered the best MP3 encoder at mid-high bitrates.
