Music volume

I have a lot of music on my hard drive recorded from various sites. There is
quite a difference in volume from song to song. I have used the equalizer to
no effect. Can any one tell me how I can equalize the volume without
re=recording. Thanks James

Open WMP and click View>Enhancements>and check Crossfading and Auto
Volume Levelling. Hope it helps :~)

Mr. Byte, it tells me that volume leveling is not available with this media.
Would a WMP update help? James

No, it means that your soundcard does not support that feature.
If you are using WMP10, do not upgrade to WMP11, that will
make your situation worse. The feature only supports files that
are in Windows Media (WMA) or MP3 format and that contain a volume
leveling value. You may have an inexpensive soundcard or it is an
onboard one, meaning on your Mobo (motherboard), which are very
inexpensive. You can get nice ones at eBay for under $25 which will
do most of your bidding. As long as you have a PCI slot on your
Mobo to insert it for expansion.

Thanks again Mr. Byte. I have a Dell Dimensions 2400. I don't know anything
about the sound card but I do understand what you are saying. What kind
should I be looking for? Many thanks. James

Audacity or Goldwave - use the normalising feature. Google and you'll find
them.

know it could help me with this question. James
