itunes audio configuration

Hey,
I am having a problem with itunes. When I click on the itunes icon on my
desktop, a window pops up and says," itunes  could not open because it has
detected a problem with the computers audio configuration". please help!

Re-install your XP specific soundcard drivers.

Well how do you install this so called "Soundcard XP" what the hell is it and
where the hell is it and how the hell do you use it

Patti Macleods solution on 6/11/2007 to uninstal Quick time, then just
re-install it without i-tunes (solution on apple support) worked fine,
reinstaling audio drivers did not work for me
