has onyone else noticed that wmp11 has no mp3 encoder? i try to rip a cd and
wmp11 says not possible to perform this action. has anyone also noticed that
mmjb has a hard time reading/ripping cds from itunes? does anyone have any
ideas since windows got smart and started charging for the mp3 encoders??

So don't use it. There are plenty freebies around that do an execellent job.
To encode and manipulate sound files :

To rip CD's :
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (don't forget to download the LAME
encoder/decoder from the SAME site)

Google would have been your best friend, but !
BTW, my version of WMP11 can rip mp3's ...... However, you can use excellent
freeware to change/add tags :

MS didn't want to bother for there are many free ones available on the Net.
