Hi,

My problem is that when im on my pc my sound will work fine for a good few
hours or so or actually varies when it decides to cut off and not want to
play any more sound at all. when the sound cuts out it does not allow me to
play videos smoothly aswell. To regain sound on my pc i have to do a restart
of my system wich is very annoying. When this issue happens i check all the
sound driver's and such and they all say its working properly etc. and is not
muted or any sort.
I have also discovered that the sound will also cut off very early when i
play a game for instance World of Warcraft and can often happen when i Alt +
Tab across different programs while running this game.
The details of my sound card as far as i know is an Onboard sound card and
my Mobo chip set is ASROCK K7S8X Running on 1gig Ram and AMD 2.9ghz processor.
I'd also like to note that i have tried updating the sound drivers but the
problem is that i cant find any sound drivers for this system. As far as im
aware the drivers i have is C-Media Xear Technology Sound system..

If you need to know more Info please post back and i will do as much as i
can to help eachother out.

Thanks for taking time in reading this and any sort of help would be greatly
apreciated :)

Update: My OS is Windows XP SP 2 and all latest updates.

Update: I have tried renewing the drivers from this site:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=K7S8X&s=
But the same problem still persists. I have noticed that it almost certainly
does it on the WoW game everytime when i play it.
Could this be i need a new sound card or so?

"for a good few hours or so"?  You may have answered your own post in
the last line - "Could this be i need a new sound card or so?"  How old is it?

Well it depends. it will play all day long no problem but it often decides to
''switch off'' if i flick through a program or game to many times. But it
mainly ''switches off'' when i play a game. it would work fine on a game for
a few mins and the cut out and no more sound untill restart. when this
happens i can not play any video file smoothly.
my pc is a couple of years old as the sound card is inbuilt with the mobo. i
wanted to know weather i needed a new sound card or not just as a suggestion
thats all :)
